Dr Londari Yamarak

Professional Bio

I am Londari Yamarak, a Lecturer and researcher in applied & development economics. I have been teaching economics subjects in PNG Universities for almost 12 years. I am currently the Head of Economics Section at the PNG University of Technology.  I have a PhD in Economics from Charles Sturt University, Australia, awarded in December, 2020. The thesis titled is ‘an investigation into the mining projects in Papua New Guinea and its impacts on poverty and the livelihoods of indigenous people.” I also currently a US Scholar. I do other consultancy projects in both applied and development economics. I have completed a project with IOM-UN-Migration, which the project will be launched and published soon. I was engaged as a research consultant with Western Sydney University, Australia on a project titled “PNG Voices” which was launched on the 28th of April 2022 in Sydney, Australia. I am currently a Independent Research Consultant FAO-United Nations. My special interests are on development and applied economics; esp. on migrations, impacts of mining and HIV/AIDS on the sustainable livelihoods framework and how it affects people’s livelihoods on the ordinary citizens. I also have interest on the impacts of COVID-19 on the livelihoods of urban settlers and the rural areas as well.
