Professional Bio

Dr. Siad Darwish is an anthropologist and peacebuilder specialized in gender, inclusion, and environmental peace and conflict. Siad leads CDAs Collaborative Learning Project on environmental peacebuilding. Siad has been instrumental in integrating civil society perspectives into the OECDs approach to Peacebuilding and Statebuilding through the Global Partnership for the Prevention of Armed Conflict and he has helped in the integration of masculinities into peacebuilding practice working with the Women’s Peacemakers Program. Siad has worked with Conciliation Resources, the German Civil Peace Service, Mercy Corps, SIDA, UNDP, UN Women and private sector companies like the Economist Intelligence Unit and PricewaterhouseCoopers. He has taught at the University of Wollongong, contributed to research projects at Deakin University, and is currently aiding in the development of peace studies at the University of Melbourne. Siad holds a PhD in Anthropology from Rutgers University and an MA in the Anthropology of Development from the University of Sussex.
