Dr Ali Reza Yunespour works as Academic Internships Coordinator in the School of Social and Political Sciences at the University of Melbourne. His PhD thesis examined admission practices in Afghanistan’s higher education and their ensuing (in)equities from 2001 to 2021. Since 2007, he has helped around 10,000 students in 45 rural schools in Afghanistan through his volunteer work with Indigo Foundation Australia. 

Ali Reza is also a dedicated advocate for the rights of refugees and asylum seekers in Australia specially in his capacity as the Board member of Community Refugee Sponsorship Australia (CRSA). He was a member of the Department of Home Affairs’ Advisory Panel on the Resettlement of Afghanistan Nationals between August 2021 and August 2022. In 2012, he worked as an Advisor for Australia’s Global Ambassador for Women and Girls in DFAT. Ali Reza arrived as a refugee in Australia in 2005.
