Sara is a Sudanese -Australian humanitarian worker with over 15 years of experience in international development and humanitarian assistance. With a strong focus on integrated and post-conflict programming, Sara has devoted her career to driving positive change in areas such as food security, peace building, and gender equality and inclusion.
Sara is based in Melbourne as the Disaster Risk Management Program Manager at girls’ rights and humanitarian organisation Plan International Australia. She currently manages programs in Sudan, South Sudan, Ethiopia, Zimbabwe and Myanmar that are mainly focused on improving food security in humanitarian settings.
In addition to her extensive professional background, Sara also served as the General Secretary of the Sudanese Community in Victoria, where she played a pivotal role in fostering community engagement and advocating for the needs of her fellow community members.
Sara is a co-founder of 'Media for Justice in Sudan,' an organisation that has been instrumental in promoting social justice and advocating for change through the media. Her work reflects a deep commitment to making a meaningful impact on the lives of communities and individuals affected by conflict and instability.
Sara has actively joined advocacy efforts by the diaspora community to bring attention to the Sudan crisis. She brings a unique perspective and unwavering dedication to her humanitarian efforts, embodying the spirit of compassion and service.
